Jay Ryder - President
After working with Ryder Homes since childhood, Jay Ryder joined the firm fulltime in 1990. Always a hands-on Executive, his focus on overall corporate and project management includes land acquisition, entitlement processing, sales and marketing, construction management, the establishment of strategic direction and product development, and overseeing activities of all senior management. By combining an impressive team of professionals with vast real estate experience, Jay has created a team and an operation to enable Ryder Homes to effectively reach its goals.
Jay has a Bachelors of Arts in Geology and Economics from Colgate University and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California. He is a licensed California and Nevada real estate broker and currently holds both California and Nevada general contractor licenses.
Todd Blaettler - Vice President & CFO
Todd’s CFO role is to provide oversight for all economic matters of the business, both corporate and project-specific. This includes maintaining relationships with all debt and equity providers and structuring the financing for all of the firm’s various businesses. As Vice President, Todd supports the overall administration of the company and implements the strategic directives of the President.
Before joining Ryder Homes in 1996, Todd served as Controller for a private real estate developer, after working at both Big-4 and regional accounting firms providing CPA services for real estate clients.
Todd holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Princeton University and a Masters in Business Administration – Finance from New York University.
Molly Karns - Director of Product Development & Purchasing
Since joining Ryder Homes in 2004, Molly has had her hand in almost every aspect of the business. On any given day Molly can be found entitling a job, purchasing, defining new design and specifications, creating and executing project start-ups, working with marketing, design, energy and production consultants, overseeing the bidding, contracting and insurance processes or training staff.
Before joining Ryder Homes, Molly worked as a Purchasing Agent with The Surland Companies and prior to that was a Marketing Assistant for RSL Interactive.
Molly has a Bachelors of Science degree from Miami University in Oxford, OH.
Steve Thomsen - Nevada General Manager
Steve has worked in the building industry for nearly 20 years. He first joined the Ryder team in 1997 as a Sales Associate. After excelling as a new home salesman, he sought new opportunities as a Superintendent. During his years as a superintendent he mastered project management, process documentation and customer service. Steve has been involved in all aspects of home building including, Sales, Purchasing, Customer Service, Project Management and Land Development. In 2013, he was promoted to General Manager of the Reno office and now runs the day to day operations for the Reno division.
Steve brings enthusiasm and experience to the team while remaining active in the community and the industry. He currently serves on the Somersett Aesthetic Guidelines Committee (AGC) board, the Builders Association of Northern Nevada (BANN) board, and the Mountaingate Homeowners Association Board of Directors.
Taylor Cohee - Sales & Marketing Director, Managing Broker
Over the past decade Taylor has been directly responsible for over $1 billion dollars in residential real estate sales while expanding the communication methods and technical engagement between companies and their clients. As a member of the Ryder Homes team, Taylor is responsible for the in-house sales and marketing efforts, in addition to being the managing broker for Ryder Homes' in-house CA and NV brokerage, Ryder Homes Realty, Inc.
Prior to joining Ryder Homes, Taylor was the vice president of sales and marketing for the attached home developer, Pacific West Companies, and most recently the managing broker for McKinley Partners in-house brokerage, Yellow Door Realty.
Taylor is a licensed real estate broker in both California (BRE# 01880595) and Nevada (RED# 1001439), and studied marketing at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and received Beta Gamma Sigma Honors and his Bachelors of Science degree in Finance from the University of Nevada, Reno.
Aaron Roden - California Manager of Acquisitions & Planning
Aaron's key responsibilities include pre-development activities such as identifying and acquiring land, pro forma underwriting and feasibility analysis. Upon acquisition, Aaron’s duties include obtaining entitlements, land planning, design, budgeting and coordination and implementation of construction efforts.
Prior to joining Ryder Homes in 2013, Mr. Roden worked for and then managed a distressed asset investment fund. Before that, Mr. Roden worked as a Development Manager for Serrano Development Group (Los Angeles) and Opus Corp. (Milwaukee, Phoenix and SF Bay Area) on various development projects and types including institutional, industrial, office, apartments, condominiums and mixed-use.
Aaron earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Marquette University.
Bobbie Merrigan - Nevada Manager of Forward Planning & Development
Bobbie joined Ryder Homes in August of 2012 and is responsible for the Forward Planning, Entitlement and Land Development responsibilities of Ryder’s Reno operations in Northern Nevada. Bobbie also handles the Property Management of several Ryder Properties, including the Ryder’s office building at 985 Damonte Ranch Parkway.
Prior to joining the Ryder team Bobbie provided land development management, entitlement processing and project management for several national and local builders in a development career spanning more than 17 years.
